Book 3: Dreamers of the Nameless Spires
Chapter 1: A Most Unwelcome Truth
Or, Hotter Than a Spoon in a Crackhouse on Payday.
Session Summary
The party explored Dr. Ritalson’s laboratory basement, battling four fleshwarp “guests” Dr. Ritalson created from Saumen Kar remains. They used tactics like closing doors, guidance buffs, and a wall of fire to defeat them, recovering a partial Saumen Kar hand granting cold resistance 10. Looting the area revealed scrolls, poisons, and notes on Ritalson’s plans involving dreams, Osoyo, The Nameless Spires, and his habit of mind-harvesting unsuspecting Gatewalkers.
After resting in Lepidstat, warning the house staff, and selling items, they traveled by horse to Lichgate in the ruins of an ancient elven stronghold called Mirianath. They fought four doppelganger guards mimicking party members and other Gatewalkers, using wall of fire and melee to win. Inside, they looted a survival chest with cold weather gear and a bag of holding.
Confronting Ritalson and his floating mind moppet Ogovip, the party quickly smashed Ritalson with critical maul hits before he could act fully. Looting yielded +1 dagger, armor, pendant, scrolls, elixirs, and a vat-grown brain. Activating the aiudara with a moonstone, they prepared to enter the portal to Icegate.
