Chapter 4: Ruins of Domora

Session Summary

The party rested at the dried lake bed near the Domora aquifer, and inventoried gear including potions, scrolls, and wondrous items. They re-entered the mucky tunnel and soon encountered the Doldrums Heap known as “The Clog”, a demonic plant monster which caused fascination via hallucinogenic spores. After intense tentacle grabs, fireballs, punches, and sonic blasts, they defeated it. The party healed using potions and spells.

Sakuachi opened the silver-glowing door to the central cistern. She sprinted into the ice-choked drain, merging with god Ruun to become Snowy Owl. The party fought demon lord Malgamon and two blood demons amid strobe rain from the goddess Dyzad which weakened the foes. They used thunderstrikes, an enchanted maul, tiger claws, and cold iron dagger attempts to slay them. Snowy Owl emerged empowered with spectral owl wings.

After leaving the sewers the companions Innumma, Uliquk, and Deniigi rejoiced. The party achieved level 8 and Snowy Owl upgraded the party’s items: Sammakko‘s staff became a Greater Staff of the Unblinking Eye, Hector‘s maul gained potency +2, Yoi-ko‘s monk’s clothing gained an invisibility rune. They made a plan to head south to Lepidstadt to meet with Dr. Ritalson and find a portal to the Crown of the World in the quest against Osoyo, the Blackfrost Whale.

Timeline

1. Party inventories potions, elixirs, scrolls, and figurines at lake bed.
2. Enter pitch-dark mucky tunnel following stream.
3. Will saves vs Clog spores; fascination compels approach.
4. Combat: Hector rages and slams, Yoi-ko punches and flurries, Sammakko fireballs then thunderstrikes, Sakuachi blesses.
5. Defeat the Clog; heal with potions, elixirs, treat wounds.
6. Sakuachi opens sealed door; enters the remaining ice drain.
7. Fight Malgamon (dimension doors, grabs, rasping tongues) and blood demons (spears, stings, paralyze).
8. Sammakko thunderstrikes, Yoi-ko grapples/throws/shreds, Hector mauls demons.
9. Snowy Owl (Sakuachi+Ruun) emerges with ice wings; upgrades gear.
10. Exit to snow falling outside; make camp and plan a 16-day trip to Lepidstadt.
