Book 2: They Watched the Stars

Chapter 1: Escape From Skywatch

The group rests during the day with the Smiling Wolves and Hector has a dream. He tells the group about seeing the man with the horned white mask. The group agrees the masked man is a creep.

After getting prepared, the group heads to the Mystic Market to find Deniigi… or so they think. Sammakko has some difficulty with direction and the group finds themselves on an unfamiliar street without any Mystic Market in sight. As they carefully scan their surroundings Sammakko sees a smoky form which coalesces into a flaming cat (an Elananx). Yoi-ko runs up to engage it but get scratched for his efforts before it races to the group and attacks Hector. Kalathel is unable to discern the weakness of the creature but is able to cut it with his Star Knife. Hector strikes the flaming beast with his hammer but it remains standing. Sammakko’s spell misses but he shields himself in preparation. Yoi-ko was able to strike it twice though the Elananx nearly eviscerates him with its next strike. Kalathel deduces that the creature is fey and vulnerable to cold iron as he uses its vulnerability against it. Hector knocks the Elananx prone with his hammer. Sammakko unleashes his claws at it but it misses. With a decisive flurry of strikes, Yoi-ko shatters the creature’s skull. Sammakko heals his friend as the group harvests what they can from the corpse.

Sammakko successfully leads the group to Mystic Market and a low pained moaning coming from the hexagonal structure. The sign says Celestia’s Place. Deniigi is having a bad dream but is only in her underclothes. Hector shakes her but she is unfit to travel. When Yoi-ko attempts to pick her up, she says they have to get her supplies back after she was roofied. Sammakko runs to get an antidote that he imagines exists somewhere on the ground and bandits… possibly rapists… attack.

The foes rush Sammakko, hacking wildly with their hatchets while the leader, Vhisa Resgrido barely manages to hit him with a daze spell. Sammakko retaliates with magic blam powers. As Sammakko is overwhelmed and knocked unconscious by the bandits, Yoi-ko engages the leader who turns invisible. Meanwhile Hector knocks down one of the dastardly duo and spits on him. Kalathel masterfully vivisects the prone miscreant. More bandits enter the fray! Sammakko fireballs Vhisa after being saved by Hector and she puts him back down. Hector smashes someone’s head and walks away. Kalathel attempts intimidating the ruffians to mixed results. Kalathel then trips Terner Sudes. A lot of other beating goes on and the group wins.

Kalathel gives Deniigi an antidote and she becomes alert but continues to whine about her belongings instead of being grateful. Once she retrieves her equipment, she relates the story of her misfortune with the bandits. The group searches the market and then returns to the Smiling Wolves.
