Book 1: The Seventh Arch
Chapter 2: Thin Air
After meeting with the Oakstewards, the group reviews what they know:
- Bolan was not the main player
- Kaneepo the Slim is connected with the Gorgas
- Kaneepo is the ruler of the Thinlands
The group seeks out information in 7 Arches, starting at the Honeybrush Cabaret. Kalathel learned that there have been several Gorga attacks to investigate and that there are records in the Quaking Stacks. The group decides to go to the Thinlands Farms, which takes a day, and check out the Gorga attack.
On the way back to 7 Arches a thin figure that can never be approached no matter what the group does. In the morning we find a crudely drawn star and drawn frog on the door to their quarters in town.
The party learned that shadows boil and burn, that there are lots of missing people and that a slender figure is seen about often though not spoken of for fear of drawing attention.
The party then went to site of the Gorga attack, a persons body and overturned cart was overturned and her mule was partially eaten. People have avoided the area for fear of running into Gorgas. Both the flesh wounds and wounds to the shadow indicate Gorgas, but there are also humanoid foot prints which start and stop as though teleportation or flight possibly. Kalathel learns more about Gorgas.
While the party is returning to 7 Arches, the horses get spooked and leave the party stranded in the woods. GORGA ATTACK!!!
Shylock is taken out by two Gorgas before the others of the group used their magical and melee abilities to destroy the 3 shadow dogs. The group revived their healer and they discovered the same symbol of a star on the corpse of the Gorga. It was not magical. No slim form appeared either.
We believe that since the missing moment, Kaneepo seems behind the attacks and that Varna, a skinny oaksteward with a septum piercing, was the most recent disappearance of the many that have occurred recently. We also realize that the real Thinlands are in the First World and connected to the real-world Thinlands Farms and Kanipo can open portals.
Sammakko had a strange dream about man in a coat and mask of fur. Shylock recognizes the dream from one he had earlier (session one) and uses his fortune telling to determine the the trip to the Gorga attack victim would be safe.
Before leaving, the party shops including at Silver and Cold. It is too expensive, they leave empty handed.
Pa Mosby was attacked by Gorga but made it home as his mule was killed. He is a raving person so getting the truth is tricky. He describes Gorgas.
During the evening, nothing happens, but a dead bird with elaborately broken wings is hung over Sammokko’s bed and casts no shadow.
The group goes to the Quaking Stacks, the grand library. The amazing aspen trees sculpted into a living database reveled a tome of ancient elven lore and the capture of a slender, lurking creature of shadows. PF chronicles describe the First World Thinlands a colorless forest in Nighthold, ruled over by Count Ranalc. Ranalc was the controller of the Gorga but he disappeared and the Gorga lost their compassion and hunted. Lastly, that the Shadewither key can conjure a shadowy copy of its wearer to shield them from attacks.
The group realizes that there is a pattern to Kaneepo’s appearances and that one will open tonight in a potato patch. The party goes to the patch but on the way a portal opens. A path inside leads further into the first world thin lands. The party enters the portal…
